She loved him with all heart, he was the love of her life and to him, she was the apple of his eye. This love had begun approximately five years ago and since then their lives had been open pages to each other. Their weekends were never complete without each other nor any day without a call. In the bustling city, they walked hands held not minding many eyes on them. So one day he blindfolded her and held her waist up the stairs to the rooftop. The scattered roses on the floor and the candlelit graced her eyes when the cover was off. They had been into many lavish dinners but this was so posh, an hour later he nervously went down on his knees and ardently proposed to her, thrilled she said a big yes, she knew they would never be apart again. After months of hectic planning the wedding bells we're on.
On the eve of their wedding, they had a late-night chat and on this special day in her life, She wore a glamorous Cinderella gown, that morning when she arrived in the church compound he wasn't there she was informed by his parents that he went back for the rings, hastily she took her phone and called him but it wouldn't go through, hopeful and angst she stayed in the car. Three hours later he was still nowhere to be found and some guests began to depart. She walked out of the car into the church confused and nervous, her mother tried to comfort her but it was of no use. It was almost three o'clock and what was meant to be the best day of her life turned into her worst nightmare. Addled she sat at the altar, her eyes drowning into tears she took off her veil and baffled by this puzzle she did not know what to do. She stayed there sobbing her pain and angst out, why, why was the only word that wandered in her muddled mind. Despite long persuasion from her friend and family she opted to wait for him, hoping that he would arrive soon. Every single day of her life she kept waiting for his call, she sent endless messages to him with no single reply, so her job became an escape to her to a point she became workaholic.
Before she was an epicurean person but now she had forgotten what having fun was nor the things that made her grin. Ten years down the line she had given up all hopes of seeing him again and one day during her lunch break she decided to go to the mall and meters away from her car someone drew her attention, it was him, carrying a little girl and holding a woman's shoulder. immediately strength deserted her, her legs grew weak and she unceremoniously fell on her knees drawing the attention of everyone and he was no exception, descrying her, he held his wife's hand as they hurriedly walked into the mall. The pain she had felt years ago rekindled, she tried to blink off her tears but the anguish inside her was much more pressing. Befuddled and hwyl with resentment, she faintly dragged herself to the car her face drenched with tears. He had broken her heart and taken her for granted, she felt betrayed and even if this puzzle was too hard to solve she decided to let go because she had suffered enough for him and he was not worth it. She had been reclusive but now she wanted to be around her friends and slowly by slowly she began to rebuild her inner self even though it would take time to mend her shattered heart. One day on an outgoing with her girlfriend a guy approached her and his offer to be her friend was met with a rebuff, secretly her friend gave him her number and for a while he became persistent and she didn't have any option but to give in to his request but she made it clear to him that it would only be platonic. Gradually and unexpectedly he fell in love with her, the feeling was to fervid too suppress so he decided to confess to her but she made a mockery of it, her eyes glistening with tears.
"Did I say anything wrong," he asked
"No, I stopped believing in love along time ago, to me it's just a waste of time," she said her pain glaringly obvious.
"Then allow me to love you, let me feel that emptiness, I will make you believe in love again"
"I don't think it's possible."
"Ella to me nothing is impossible, I will make it happen, I will compel you to love me"
"It's your call do it if you can, but I am worried you may have to wait forever"
"Then so be it, Ella," he said holding her hands. "So be it beautiful."
So later when he learned her story, he began to understand the reason behind her terror and though it was fait accompli he wanted her to believe in love again. He was determined to help her mend her broken heart and that compelled him to even love her more. For three years he wooed her, he loved her not expecting the reciprocation of his passion but in time he won her heart.
In the Haven of tranquility and serenity away from the bustle of the city under the bright chandelier, he went down on his knees.
"Ella, I know you have been through a lot but I want to change all that by putting this ring on your finger, will you marry me, Ella?"
The proposal dumbfounded her and her fears suddenly returned, queasy he stood and grasped her from behind and she took a deep grasp as she whirled to face him.
"To be sincere Glen, I'm still scared I don't want the past event to reoccur again"
"It's okay Ella I can still wait"
"You Know since I met you, all you have given me is happiness and I have grown to love you very much, you have compelled me to love you, so if the proposal still stands, then I will marry you , I'll be your wife Glen," she said holding his cheek.
"Yes," he shrieked " you will never regret this decision, I love you very much, with all my heart Ella"
"And I love you more," he wrapped her into his arms.
At the church door, her heart leaped with excitement when she saw him eagerly waiting for her, it was a dream come true. So as she slowly walked into her destiny she could not hold back the drops of tear that aimlessly flowed down her cheeks. After taking their wedding vows and pronounced husband and wife she heartily sobbed, anyone who knew her past would assuredly comprehend the reason behind her tears. He warmly embraced her as the crowd applauded. "You thought the past would repeat itself, then you are mistaken Ella, I'm already your husband," he whispered into her ears. "It's a beautiful dream, isn't it?" she asked. "No Ella it's a beautiful reality" one year later in the busy street, she stood quietly watching the rumbustious crowd move up and down the street in their daily business of trying to better their lives, suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder." honey you're back," astonished she stepped back. "So it's you." "Ella how are you." "Am fine," she said calmly "Ella, I'm sorry I know that no explanation can justify my action but I regret leaving you on our wedding day" "Andy, for ten years I wiped for you, I didn't know if you were still alive, I was worried and devastated, why did you do that to me why Andy?" "I don't know Ella, till today I cannot fathom the reason behind my action and I think that's why fate found a way to punish me because the lady I ended up marrying turned out to be a swindler and neither was the little girl that I treasured so much was my daughter." "With all that you are telling me, it is as if I hardly knew the man to whom I would have gotten married to, to be sincere I don't know if should feel sorry for you or say that fate took its course, but, there is always a bright side to everything and I'm grateful it might sound funny, but it's true and though my heart bled with so much sorrow and anguish I'm happy that it led me to my husband, to a man worth my love" "You are married?" "Beautiful, is everything thing okay, and who is he?" "He is Andy and he is about to leave" "Is he your husband Ella?" "No, he is not only my husband but the father to this baby growing in my womb" "It was nice seeing you again and I'm sorry, sorry" he walked away covered with shame as guilt and regret gnawed on him. "Poor guy" "Is he the creature who ditched you on your wedding day?" "Yeah it's him" "So what did he want?" "I guess he came to apologies" "You could have called me and maybe I would have bashed his face" "That wouldn't have changed anything and furthermore things have turned sour for him" "You are right, but something caught my attention?" "And that is?" "Is true you're pregnant?" "Very much pregnant love." "Yeap, I'm going to be a dad." "Come on turn down your voice, we are in the middle of the street" "Are we, but am angry, why didn't you tell me?" "I am sorry, it was meant to be a surprise" "It's okay beautiful, never forget that I love you so much, so much Ella" "I love you too Glen and thank you for making me believe in love again, you are the love of my life" "Come here" he embraced her as she nuzzled against his breast "you and my child are the most important people in my life"
