Her heart sunk with sadness as she watched her life slip through the tips of her fingers and though no one ever believed in her dreams she hard fought so hard to accomplish her ambition but now in a blink all her effort had been shattered. her pillow soaked with tears of unknown, endless questions running through her disturbed mind. It had been a span of three years since she graduated from her B.Com class and luckily landed a job an year later. Her unwavering progress was meant to encourage her younger sibling who looked up to her. In that darkroom she sat in despair not knowing what to do,she felt disappointed and angry, she tried to compose herself but it was hard. The sound of her painful cry echoed the whole room as darkness vehemently stared at her. Just like norm, that morning she reported to work and went straight into her cozy comfy office but no sooner she was summoned by her haughty boss over missing cash.
she stood before her shocked and puzzled, " but I compiled everything yesterday"
" So you think I just made it all up, then explain why this enormous amount of money is not accounted for, go on speak up"
" I'm sorry I only hand out the amount of money authorized by you"
"And what are you trying to insinuate?" she asked in a cranky tone.
" With all due respect madam I'm always keen with my work, maybe an error occurred we should counter check " she said convincingly.
" Look here, these are last month receipts did you ever compile them, did you?"
"But I was waiting for.............."
" Enough with the excuses it is your duty to retrieve receipts after every purchase, we pay you to do that. I don't think it's worth it to keep your here, you are dismissed"
' But madam.. ..................."
"Would you prefer this to be discussed in a court of law?" she arrogantly asked
She defended herself until she lost the will. in her distress she took her phone from her purse and suddenly a business card fell down, hurriedly she took it into her hands thats when it occurred to her that three months ago she helped a stranger who gave her that card. With haste she dialed the number on it hoping that someone will answer from the other side.
"Hello," a soothing voice answered.
" I'm I talking to Madam Faith?" she nervously asked.
" yes, and you are?"
"I'm Belinda I helped your three months ago and you told me to give you a call anytime I'm in need.
"Belinda, oh! yeah I remember the lady who saved my daughter, I have been waiting for your call, you sound troubled, are you okay?"
"No I just lost my job"
I am sorry about that Belinda I understand how you must be feeling, why don't you come to my my office on Monday and we will have a chat.
" Thank you so much madam, I saved her out of goodwill and believe me it was not for pay back,I really need your help"
"it's okay, it must have been out of goodwill but I feel that I'm indebted to you so it is a good thing you called and it will be a pleasure to repay your kindness. so can I see you on Monday?"
"Sure, I will be there," she disconnected the call. "yes" she shrieked and gasped in relief as a smile of gladness graced her beautiful face.
here excitement made her wake up early than usual that Monday morning hoping that everything. A few hours later she was on her way to the office.
" How are you?" she said to the receptionist
"I'm fine,how can I help you?"
"I have an appointment with madam Faith"
"Are you Belinda?"
"Yes"
"Come with me she has been waiting for you"
"Belinda welcome, Annabelle thank you."
"It is a beautiful office you have".
"Thank you, so what transpired"
"I really have no idea, I was summoned and told that a huge sum of money was missing but believe me I didn't take it"
" I Get what you're saying something similar to that happened to me, my eldest daughter was by then nine months old but to make it worse I was in an abusive relationship,so here I was tired of my marriage and at the same time jobless."she stood up and matched towards the window. "One day after he went to work , I decided to move out and start a new life with my little girl, everyday I moved up and down hunting for a job but every time I ended up frustrated. Two months passed by and life became even more tougher,my bank account was almost draining and I couldn't be able to pay my daughter's nanny so I realized her off her duties. Here I was with my baby girl with no genuine friends around. I remember many were the times I used to deeply cry mostly when I looked at my daughter, I was in owe of not giving her a good life, you know it's the dream of every mother that her children should have a better life than they did. It came to a point I was now tired of living and one night I looked at my daughter and so many crazy stuffs ran in my mind so I thought why don't we leave all this suffering behind," she walked and sat beside her. When I was now fed up and at a point of giving up that's when an anticipated miracle happened it was an encounter that changed my life. I was walking aimlessly to offices looking for any kind of job and it was my last shot.I vividly recall the last office. I entered I met a lady at the reception area and she firmly gazed at me."
"What is your name young lady" she asked
"My name is Faith"
"Faith, but you don't resemble your name"
"Why?" I asked out of curiosity
"Faith where is your Faith?"
For a moment I became quiet, not knowing how to respond to her unvarnished query.Till today I call it a divine timing because she was about to leave, she invited me into her cozy office and in a few moment my eyes were drenched in tears, her story to success was much more overwhelming. From that moment I begun to see life in a different perspective. From there, not only did she become my employer but a mentor and my best friend. Belinda I know you must be asking yourself why I'm telling all these to you, it's because I want you to never give up and to know that you are not alone people go through heartbreaking seasons and like I always tell my daughters that it doesn't matter if you are brought up on a silver platter, your will still have hiccups in life, you will get disappointed but you should never stop fighting. You are lucky because you lost your job recently and you're getting another job" "Another job?"she asked in disbelief "Yes there is a vacancy in the department of finance and we need an assistant finance manager, would you like to work with us" "Definitely madam Faith, thank you for this opportunity, I'm very grateful" "You will have to bring all your documents for the purpose of records" "I will, thank you again."
" And never give up,okay."
"I will never give up,never."
She walked back home happy and contented knowing that it was all worth it.
